The Title IS the question. I simply want to Find a customer using the customer ID number. I got from a QB desktop Encryption 310 Error.

Error 310

Error: Verify Encrypted Data: Failed to decrypt customer’s credit card number. Customer ID: 606

I am highly frustrated by now. So I need some help. This just can’t be this hard.

Thanks.

There are a few ways I know of the find the customer from the Customer ID.  They all involve accessing Quickbooks API either directly or via a subscription to a service that can access the API or via a service like Postman..  Is this something you you need to do regularly or is this just a one time thing?  I have done this many times before to extract data from Quickbooks.  Let me know if you want to discuss further.

A Customer ID is an internal backend number used by QuickBooks Desktop and cannot be searched or viewed in the standard interface. When Encryption Error 310 occurs, the system logs it using this database ID.

Since you are working with raw database identifiers and error logs, we recommend posting your query in the Intuit Developer Community. The developers and engineers there specialize in backend data structures and can help you troubleshoot this issue.

In the meantime, you can export your entire customer list and open the file in Excel to view customers alongside their ID numbers in the REFNUM column.

Here's how:

  1. Go to File > Utilities.

  2. Select Export, then Lists to IIF Files.

  3. Check Customer List and click OK.

  4. Choose where to save the file and click Save.

  5. Open the exported file in Excel to review your data.
