To get your money into a different bank, you just have to complete a quick, one-time security handshake to link your account. Once that's out of the way, you’re free to move your cash whenever you like.

Before QuickBooks can safely route your funds, it needs a verified bridge to the destination. If you haven’t linked your external account yet, you can follow this setup:

  1. Navigate to All Apps > Lending > QuickBooks Checking.
  2. Hit Transfer, then select Transfer money.
  3. Choose Add a bank, type your bank's name, choose the account type, and input your routing and account numbers.
  4. When you're ready, hit Next.

Over the next three business days, QuickBooks will drop two tiny micro-deposits into your external account just to test the connection. Once you spot those pennies, log back in, click Verify Bank, and enter the exact amounts. Just a heads up, some major banks don't even require this step. If yours is one of them, just hit Add, then Confirm to bypass the wait.

Once that connection is live, actually moving the cash takes less than 60 seconds. Here's how:

  1. Go to All apps > Lending > QuickBooks Checking.
  2. Click Transfer, then choose Transfer money.
  3. Input the exact amount you want to move.
  4. Set the From menu to your QuickBooks Checking account.
  5. Set the To menu to your connected external bank.
  6. Select Next and hit Finish transfer.

From there, you choose your speed. The standard, free route takes between 3 and 5 business days to clear. Alternatively, if your account is eligible and you're in a rush, you can opt for an Instant transfer for a 1.5% fee, which typically lands the funds in your destination account within 30 minutes.

I'll share this article in case you want to take a deeper dive into the finer details regarding this feature: Use your QuickBooks Checking account.

Give that a try and let me know how it goes. If you run into any quirks or if you mean something else, I'm always right here to help. Have a great day!
