How do I stop QuickBooks Cash and other promotional popups in QuickBooks Online?

There's currently no setting in QuickBooks Online to permanently turn off all in-app promotional notifications. That said, here are the best options for reducing them.

Dismiss individual popups: QuickBooks remembers your choice

Selecting X or No thanks on a popup doesn't just close it for that session. QuickBooks is designed to remember your choice so that specific notification won't come back. Working through them one by one is the most reliable way to clear them out over time.

Check your Intuit marketing preferences

This won't turn off in-product banners, but if you're also getting unwanted marketing contact from Intuit outside of QuickBooks, it's worth checking:

  1. Select the Gear icon in the upper right.
  2. Go to Account and settings, then the Company tab.
  3. Look for the Intuit marketing preferences section and adjust to your liking.

Use your browser's popup blocker

A browser-level popup blocker can stop true popup windows from appearing. Keep in mind that many of these promotions are banners built directly into the QuickBooks interface, so a popup blocker won't catch all of them, but it can help reduce some. To enable it:

  • Chrome: Select the three-dot menu, go to Settings, then Privacy and security, then Site settings, and set Pop-ups and redirects to Blocked.
  • Safari: Go to Safari, then Settings for This Website, and block pop-ups from there.
  • Firefox: Select the three-line menu, go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, and check Block pop-up windows.

Request a permanent off-switch

If you'd like Intuit to add a setting to disable these notifications entirely, you can send that request directly to the product team:

  1. Select the Gear icon in the upper right.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Describe your suggestion and select Next to submit.

The development team reviews all feedback and considers it for future updates, and this is a request many QuickBooks Online users have made, so it carries weight.

Let us know if a specific popup keeps reappearing after you've dismissed it and we can look into that further.

I've got you covered concerning pop-up ads advertisements in QuickBooks Online, TMiller.

To clarify, are you referring to the product pop-ups? If so, they're designed to guide and suggest you how to optimize your QBO experience. For now, the only way to get rid of the advertisements is by manually closing them through the sign or the No thanks option.

Since this is affecting the navigation when using the program, I'll be sure to take note and pass along the suggestions you have so you're able to reach a point of resolution as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, I recommend visiting our site to stay up to date on any updates or improvements. You can bookmark the link I'm adding down below: QuickBooks Blog.

I've done the "check the box" to turn off popups countless times. It doesn't work.

Thanks for joining us here, @AmericanRV.

This isn't the kind of impression we want you to leave. While the check box to turn off popup messages for products and services isn't working, you can send feedback to our engineers. You can follow the steps provided by my peer @rvrfrf above to submit.

In the meantime, you can manually click on the sign or the No thanks option to get rid of the advertisement.

Additionally, feel free to visit Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online to see the recently updated ideas added to the program. You can also send a product suggestion in that page.

Having just changed to QBO, this is incredibly frustrating.
