I have an investment account in QuickBooks, and I normally only enter investment income. However, last fiscal year I deposited cash into this account. How do I record that transaction?

We can create a bank deposit in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to record the transaction and select your investment account as the destination, @fwinston.

Here's how:

  1. Click the + New icon or (+) Create.
  2. Select Bank Deposit.
  3. Choose the account you want to put the money into from the Account dropdown.
  4. Navigate to the Add funds to this deposit section.
  5. In the Received From column, enter the source of the deposit.
  6. Select the Investment Account in the Account column.
  7. Choose Check as the Payment Method.
  8. Enter the Amount and any necessary details.
  9. Click Save & Close to complete the transaction.
