Importing QB Desktop to QB Online Accountant

I currently use a QuickBooks Online Accountant subscription for all of my clients except one, who is still on QuickBooks Desktop.

I tried exporting the Accountant’s Copy from Desktop, but I’m running into issues importing/accessing it remotely through my current setup.

For those of you who work with both QBO and Desktop clients, what has been the best workaround for remote access and support? I’m debating whether I should just purchase a Desktop license myself, but I’d rather avoid the extra cost for only one client if there’s a better solution out there.

Any advice, recommendations, or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated!

What QB Desktop Accountant year version are you using? 2024 or older?

When is your next renewal date this year?

You can't access the company file of your client when importing the Accountant's copy from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online Accountant.

To access it efficiently, you need to purchase QBDT Accountant. Your software version must match your client's specific year and edition. For example, if your client has QBDT Premier 2022, you need QBDT Accountant 2022 to open the Accountant's Copy.
