Intuit login preventing me from accessing QB2021 desktop

QB2021 Desktop.  I got message to log in to Intuit, otherwise I was blocked from using my program.  I logged in to Intuit, changed my password and I still have the same message with the spinning boxes when I try to log back into QB.  In other words, Intuit is preventing me from using my own paid-for software.

Install the trial version of QB Desktop 2021 Pro to isolate the problem. Did you encounter the same problem?

Hi there, @MCASOkskq. I appreciate the description of your experience with QuickBooks Desktop 2021. I’ll help you resolve this so you can bypass the spinning boxes and access your company file.

A common reason for the spinning box is that the software is trying to connect to a modern Intuit authentication server using outdated security protocols.

To resolve this issue, you can open a new or sample company file to force a login using fresh data. This triggers the system to open a clean window, allowing you to access the program. Here’s how:

  1. On the No Company Open page, click Open a sample file.
  2. Select the type of sample company you want to use.
  3. Click Yes, and choose where you want the data to be stored.
  4. Once done, click Save.

Once you've accessed the sample test company file, you'll want to close it and open your main company file. It should now recognize that you're logged in and you can get back on track with QuickBooks.

If the issue persists, I recommend using the QuickBooks Tool Hub. It centralizes various repair tools into one dashboard to fix common issues like "spinning boxes," program crashes, and file errors, allowing you to target specific problem areas in the software. For more details, please see this page: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

Please utilize the Reply button if you have other questions about QuickBooks. We'll make sure to respond as soon as possible.

This does not work for me. I get the spinning box when I try to create a new company.

Hi Dimi617. This is certainly not the experience we want you to have with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2021.

Have you tried updating your QBDT 2021? Updates often include bug fixes and security patches that may resolve the issues blocking you from using the program. For assistance with this, please refer to this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

If the update doesn't work, you can also try the QuickBooks Tool Hub mentioned by my colleague Kurt_M if you haven't already.

To download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub, follow these steps:

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Download the latest version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  3. Save the file where it is easy to locate (e.g., your Downloads folder or Windows desktop).
  4. Open the downloaded file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. Once finished, double-click the icon on your desktop to open it.

To further isolate the problem, follow Step 2 on the page provided by Kurt_M and combine it with the solutions in this article: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.

Should you have any other concerns, feel free to reach out.

I am running the latest version of QB Desktop 2021 on Windows 11 Home, build [removed]. I've downloaded the QB tool and used it as directed. The QB tool generates numerous errors and does not address my issue.

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have taken to resolve the numerous errors you encountered, Dimi617. I would be glad to help sort this out for you.

This issue is common when your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) version is no longer supported. To resolve it, I recommend upgrading your account to the latest version, such as QuickBooks Enterprise. This will ensure you continue to have access to Intuit services, receive the latest security enhancements, and enjoy new features.

Alternatively, you can consider moving to QuickBooks Online (QBO) and exporting your data from QBDT 2021 Pro to maintain a complete record. For further information, you can check out this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop company file to QuickBooks Online.

Please let us know if you have follow-up questions or concerns with QuickBooks. We'll be around to help.
