QuickBooks Desktop's standard Rate field can only display one price at a time. When you apply a price level, it automatically replaces the standard list price with the final discounted price in that single column. Thus, you can't view separate columns for the original/standard price, discounted price, and applied price level for each line item.

Since the software lacks a built-in formula engine to show a side-by-side breakdown of the standard price, the discount level, and the final price in different columns, you can create a dedicated Discount Item to highlight and display price reductions as an alternative. However, this option will be added at the row level and not as an additional column. Here’s how to do it:

1. Go to the top menu bar and select Lists, then click Item List.
2. At the bottom of the Item List window, click the Item drop-down and select New.
3. In the Type drop-down menu, choose Discount.
4. Fill out the fields.
5. Click OK to save.

To apply the discount on your invoice, follow these steps:

1. Open your invoice and enter the product or service on the first line.
2. On the next line, select your Discount Item.
3. QuickBooks will automatically calculate the discount against the item directly above it.
