My 1099 is pulling both bill and expense transactions for the 1099 filing - how do I make only the expense amount show on the report and filing?

I'll provide insights on how the 1099 report works in QuickBooks Online. I'll also ensure you only view the expense entries on the said statement and fill out your tax form efficiently.

Please note a bill transaction will debit the AP( Account Payable). The 1099 Detail report shows the said entry and AP as Account type since you're making payments to your vendor/contractor. Additionally, every time you create transactions related or tied to them appears on the report for recording purposes. That's the reason both Bill and Expense appear on the 1099 report.

Then, I recommend customizing the 1099 report so you're only able to view the expense amount.

Here's how:

1. Open the report.
2. Click the Filter icon.
3. Choose Transaction type in the Filter drop-down arrow.
4. Select equals in the Operation box. 
5. Choose Expense in the Value drop-down list.
6. Click Save.
