My products and services COG expense is not showing on the P&L correctly. The COG entry shows a an EXPENSE item on the P&L. I want it to show as a COG expense.

Hi there, @espencer42.

This issue can happen if a different expense account is assigned to the products and services instead of the COGS account.

Let’s review the affected transactions to identify these items and make the necessary changes:

  1. Click on the Gear icon.
  2. Under the Lists column, select Products and Services.
  3. Locate the product or service that isn’t showing under the COGS account.
  4. Click Edit next to the item.
  5. Scroll down to the Expense Account field.
  6. Check if the account is set to COGS. If not, update it to COGS.
  7. Click Save after making changes.

If it is already under COGS, let’s check the Chart of Accounts to ensure it’s categorized correctly:

  1. Navigate to All Apps and hover over Accounting.
  2. Click on Chart of Accounts.
  3. Locate the account listed under COGS.
  4. Click the Run Report dropdown and select Edit.
  5. Check the Account Type to confirm it is categorized as COGS.
  6. Click Save after making changes.

After making the necessary corrections, run your Profit and Loss Report again to check.

Feel free to revisit this post if you have any further questions or concerns.
