Question

My understanding is that the IRS guidelines for 1099 retention is 4 years. However, QuickBooks is saying no more than 2-3 years. We have been asked for a copy from 2021

Greetings, @wbaker. I’d be glad to provide information about this.

To begin, if you’ve e-filed the 1099 forms through QuickBooks, you can contact our live support team to help you access or retrieve the 1099 form for the year 2021. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select the Search tab, then choose Contact Us.
  3. Type in your issue or concern in the field.
  4. Hit Continue.
  5. Click the Chat or Callback option.

Our live support team is available Monday to Friday, 6 AM–6 PM PT, and Saturday, 6 AM–3 PM PT.

However, if you’ve manually filed the 1099 form, you’ll need to contact the IRS or the agency where it was submitted.
