Need to change the beginning balance on my checking account

I’ve had to sort this out for a few clients, it’s a common headache In QuickBooks Online, to fix the beginning balance on your checking account, you’ll want to open the account register first (go to Accounting -> Chart of Accounts, then click View register on your checking account).
Look for the opening balance entry, usually marked Opening Balance Equity. Click on it to edit the amount. If it’s not there or looks off, it might’ve been accidentally deleted. In that case, you can create a new opening balance entry directly in the register with the correct date and amount.

Just keep in mind: any change here can throw off your reconciliation, so after fixing it, re-check your reconciliations and opening balance equity to make sure everything lines up.
