Thanks for reaching out to the Community about your 1099 issue.
To clarify, are you using the instructions listed below when you're trying to go to the clients menu?
"After your employer or client submits your 1099-MISC to the IRS, you'll get an email when it's ready for download. Select the link in the email to sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
You can sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed to view or print your 1099-MISC.
Thanks for getting back to the thread and for the additional information. I'll chime in to impart my insight to help you get this done ASAP.
Your Form W-9 can be completed by logging in to QuickBooks Self-Employed after receiving an invitation from your employer or client via their QuickBooks Online account. Once you fill out the form, you can send it back to them directly. Once your 1099-MISC is available, you can access and download it by logging in to the same platform.
To ensure you can fill out your W-9 form, make sure your QBSE is connected to your employer's QBO account. You can request your employer or client to invite you to complete your W-9. If you already have a QuickBooks Self-Employed account, ask them to send the invitation to the email address you use to sign in. However, if you do not have an account, you can create a limited QuickBooks Self-Employed account solely for completing your forms.
After successfully getting invited, you can open your email for 1099, where you will be redirected to your QBSE account to view your 1099 forms.
