Question

New QB-Shopify connector: every invoice comes in with products unlinked and no tax code. Anyone found a way to auto-map SKUs and tax codes?

We run two Shopify stores, both now on the QB-Shopify connector. The previous connector matched identical SKUs across both platforms automatically, so invoices came through fully linked. Since the switch, every synced invoice arrives with the line items unlinked to our QB products, and the tax code blank. We're manually matching each product and setting the tax code on every single invoice, which isn't sustainable at our order volume. Is there a mapping setting we've missed, or a way to get the connector to match on SKU and apply a default tax code? Happy to hear workarounds too.

The system uses the product name and SKU to find matching products in QuickBooks Online. To ensure that Shopify products are properly linked in QuickBooks, enable Product Tracking in Settings.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Integrations icon and select Explore integrations.
  3. Find and click the Shopify Connector by QuickBooks app, then open Settings.
  4. Find the Product Tracking preference and toggle it ON.
  5. Make sure each Shopify SKU and name exactly match those of the corresponding item in QuickBooks.
  6. Select Save.

With the new Shopify connector, the tax codes from invoices are automatically synced with QuickBooks Online. Since it's not working on your end, I recommend contacting our Intuit experts for further guidance.
