Question

Performance is slow, some users show to be opening lots of attachments? Some users are not?

Hello,

We had QB Enterprise 2023 and had some users experiencing slow performance and the symptom was that user was showing to open lots of file attachments from the server attach folder. We called tech support and it was reported to us that it was a known issue and that if we update to 2024, that should fix it?

We updated to 2024 and the problem still exists. Only some users, many files from attach folder open.

Anyone know anything more about this issue?

The root cause of performance issues has been largely influenced by file size. Run the Condense Data utility to create a condensd file and compare its performance.

We found R15_69 to be the problem.  Uninstalled and reinstalled R15_58 and the speed went back to normal

Did you roll back the server and all your workstations too?

I'm wondering if I just roll back a workstation it will solve my performance problem and issue with the user opening up dozens of attachments?

What is odd, is, after the new release, I have some workstations working and some not?

We are experiencing the same issue on Enterprise 24.  When looking at the open files in computer manager you see the users basically are opening every file in the attach folder.  The only temporary remedy we have been able to come up with at this point is to copy the files out of the attach folder to another directory so users are able to use QB again.  Once the issue is resolved we will copy the data back into the original attach folder.  If anyone has any ideas to try to fix this issue please post.

I appreciate the steps you take to temporarily address the issue with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Enterprise 24, jgatlin. To resolve this, make sure your QBDT is updated to the latest release.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to Help and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.

  2. Click Update Now, then Get Updates.
  3. Close and reopen QuickBooks to install the update again.

For more details, check out this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

If the issue persists after completing the update, I recommend contacting our Live Support team for further assistance. They’ll be able to provide specialized guidance to address the issue.
