QB for Mac - Import Sales receipt fails "Object Specified in the Request cannot be found " for empty Class field

Quick Books for Mac (desktop): I am trying to import Sales Receipts using: File - Import - Transactions - Sales Receipt. This opens up a window with table that has all relevant fields from Sales Receipt called out as headers. I I frist prepare the data using the QB Template that can be downloaded from this window, and then copy/past data column by column.

In the process I leave "Class" column empty as Classes are disabled in my settings, and I have none defined anyways. When I enter the data, click Import,  I get back error that the transaction was not imported

When I inspect table and hover over "Class" fields (empy) it says that "Object Specified in the Request cannot be found " How to overcome this problem?

It looks like QB still tries to look for Class as an empty string, doesn't find one and complains.

ChatGPT proposed making Class named "None" and use it to trick QB...

Can I somehow erase  Class column from the import window altogether?

BTW I just upgraded my QB for Mac to the latest version V23.1.8 R9.2

Let’s go through some steps to import your sales receipts and get past the error message in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

We appreciate your performing some troubleshooting steps to import your sales receipts. There's no need to delete the Class column from the Import window to resolve the "Object Specified in the Request cannot be found" error message. This occurs when the class isn't yet in your company file, and QuickBooks leaves a row blank if it can’t add the transaction. To fix it, we need to select the correct item and click the Quick Add button. Here' how:

  1. On the Import window, select any blank rows. You get a message that tells you what went wrong.
  2. Here’s how to fix the error:

      3. Press Import.

Then, we need to repeat the steps for the other missed transactions.

If the same issue occurs, we can temporarily enable the Class tracking and create a new class named “None”. Just follow the steps and details in this article: Set up and use class tracking in QuickBooks Desktop. Then, go to Step 1 and Step 2 under the Mac section.

Once done, populate the Class column in your import file with “None”. You can check out this article for the steps and details: Import data into QuickBooks for Mac.

Then, turn off the Class tracking feature by following the instructions below:

  1. Go to the QuickBooks menu and select Preferences.
  2. In the Workflow section, choose Transactions.
  3. Uncheck the box for Use class tracking, then close the Transactions window to save the changes.
