Quickbooks subscription has expired pop-up error

Today I opened Quickbooks and I got a pop-up message saying "Quickbooks subscription has expired. You will lose access to Quickbooks within 7 days. Add billing information to complete the payment and renew your subscription".

This is an error because last month I renewed my subscription. I currently have Quickbooks 2024 Desktop Pro Plus "annual subscription". After getting this pop-up I logged into CAMPs and verified my subscription and payment. My subscription is good until February 2026.

After verifying that information I hit the cancel button on the pop-up which then let me log into Quickbooks. I then proceed to the Company Tab and selected My Company to verify the license #, product #, and active status which were all correct. I then manually updated Quickbooks and then also did a reset update.

After reviewing other support forums other people were having the same issue with no help or solutions.

I then called customer support which they did validate I had a current subscription until 2026. They also told me to update Quickbooks which I did again. They were not able to tell me why I was getting the pop-up message and if the update would fix the issue. I am worried that I will open Quickbooks tomorrow and I will get another pop-up saying now I will only have 6 days.

Is there anyone having this problem recently and any fixes. I cannot afford to have Quickbooks go down especially with what it costs. To have this issue is very concerning with not much help from customer support.

You should be fine. It's probably just a glitch while your program connected to Intuit's servers to verify the license.

I understand that seeing a pop-up about your QuickBooks subscription expiring can be alarming, especially after renewing. Rest assured, as long as your subscription is current, you will retain full access to QuickBooks. I’ll provide more details about this situation.

The message you're seeing is due to your recent renewal not being recognized in your account yet. You won't re-encounter this once you've already updated QuickBooks.

Also, be aware to update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release version as it becomes available to ensure you have all the updated components.

I'm adding this article about other fixes that can help you in the future: Run QuickBooks Diagnostic Tool.

We’re here to help you find a resolution and ensure QuickBooks continues to be a reliable tool for your financial management. Feel free to reach out with any questions or updates about your subscription.

We have the same error, although our account is active with a renew date in Aug 2025. It was 7 days left, but now it's 3 days left. We ran updates, and reset updates, but the message doesn't go away, what are our options?

Has a solution for this issue been discovered yet? I started getting the pop up message 3 days ago and have attempted all of the solutions on this thread, including doing a complete uninstall and reinstall. My CAMPS account shows my subscription as active through October. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

I am having the same exact problem. After spending hours, literally hours with QBs assessing my computer telling me to do this, that and anything else, I am STILL getting the message. And I renewed 10 days ago!

You need to call tech support and ask them to add renewal tokens. Every time you log in, you use tokens, and they run out.....

I have been getting the "subscription will expire" notice for about 10 days. Ours automatically renews each May - so we are good until May 2026.  Yesterday, I had 1 day left, so I restarted QB, let all of the latest, greatest updates run, the message disappeared. Today I log into QB - my subscription has expired, I am in "read only" mode, cannot post anything in QB. Tried call the toll free number, got an automated "person". When I finally was transferred over to the human side, a recording said the office was closed, to call back during normal business hours, but did not indicated what the "normal business hours" were. I am completely dead in the water! Very frustrating!

@Courage

Can you login to CAMPS and find your license code there?

What is your license status? Active or Canceled?

I have been having this same issue all year. It pops up every 3 months or so. The support staff comes in takes over my quickbooks via some online thing they do. It is "fixed", and they assure me that it will never happen again. Well, here I am on a Saturday, it says I have 2 days left and I can't get support. Every three months!! Obviously, this is some kind of glitch that QB has planted in the software. No one address the elephant in the room. QB.  How can I get support on a Saturday????

Hi Raleightx,

I understand how inconvenient it can be to encounter the same issue after it has been addressed before. Let’s work together on resolving this.

Before routing you to one of our live experts, let’s verify your payment information first and sync your license data online. Doing this will help ensure it matches your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) license info and eliminate the pop-up message you've been experiencing.

To verify your payment information, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs) using your QuickBooks or Intuit credentials.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop under your products and services.
  3. Click details next to your QuickBooks product.
  4. Verify your payment information.
  5. Once verified, select Save and Close.

Here's how to sync your license data:

  1. Navigate to the Help menu in your QBDT.
  2. Hover over the Manage My License option and select Sync License Data Online.
  3. Once the process is complete, a pop-up message will appear confirming successful synchronization. Click OK to finish.

If the issue persists, I recommend trying Solution 2 and Solution 3 outlined in this article: Fix subscription has lapsed error in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please note that our live expert support hours vary depending on the version of your QuickBooks product. If you're using QBDT Enterprise, our support is available on Saturday and Sunday from 6 AM to 3 PM PT.

For more details, please check our support hours: Get help with QuickBooks products and services.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

I've been dealing with this problem for well over a year.  I just hit "Cancel" and  the window goes away and my QB loads up like normal.   Sure is nice to be hit for over $1,000 nowdays and still be told that your subscription is expired.  Clearly this is a known problem........fix it!!!!!  And no I'm not going to call tech support and waste my time there like so many others have.  This should be fixed in an update.

I am currently on the phone with QuickBooks.  She explained that each subscription is given a set number of “Activations” and that she could reset the number to allow for us to login.  The randomly generated number could be as high as 9,999 but eventually it will be used up.  Each time you login or synchronize license information, it contacts QB, it decrements this number.

So the POP UP that notifies us, is truly misleading. It clearly states that I need to renew my subscription when in fact my subscription does not expire for another 6 months.  VERY VERY misleading and causes QuickBooks users to automatically upgrade to ENTERPRISE because they cannot buy PRO or PREMIER. VERY MISLEADING and I suggest it to be unethical.
