Upgrade Desktop 2021 Pro to Desktop 2024 Pro

I am running Desktop Pro 2021 on a Windows 10 device.  For a number of reasons I need to buy a new computer that runs Windows 11.  Can I move Pro 2021 to the new machine and then upgrade it to Desktop Pro 2024?  Or better yet, can I move 2021 to the new machine and just keep using it?  If I am not allowed to move 2021 to my new computer, can I just buy 2024 as I am already a current Desktop customer.  My S-Corp accounting demands are small and I don't want the online service; QB's online fee structure makes no sense for my small business.  Few transactions per year and minimal annual info for my 3rd party accountant.

Hello, dlgarrycoug1969.

Yes, you can transfer your QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021 to your new Windows 11 device and continue using it. Since you already own the license, there’s no need to purchase a new version.

While your current version remains functional for manual recording, please note that it has already been discontinued, which means you no longer have access to live technical support or integrated services.

For optimal compatibility, enhanced security, and full performance with Windows 11, we recommend upgrading to the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop.

Here's how to upgrade it:

  1. Navigate to the DISCOVERY HUB in the upper right corner.
  2. Select Upgrade to QuickBooks 2024.
  3. Click Proceed to upgrade, then hit the Upgrade Now button.
  4. Choose your version preference:
    • Select Keep the old version on my computer, then click Let's go, to retain your current version.
    • Leave the option blank and select Let's go to remove the current version.
  5. Wait for the process to complete, then click Open QuickBooks.

@dlgarrycoug1969

You should be able to reinstall your QBD 2021 license on the new machine.
