Question

When I create a new invoice, QBO keeps asking me to complete my business profile so I can accept payments through QBO. I want to stop this popup.

Hi, pharmaboy.

We understand that ads can be disruptive and appreciate your patience as we work to improve your experience. These ads are designed to highlight key features that may be helpful in your workflow.

Currently, there isn’t a way to turn off QuickBooks Payments ads entirely. However, you can close the ads by clicking the X or No thanks button.

Alternatively, you can use a pop-up blocker to manage ads and minimize interruptions. Here’s how to block pop-ups in Google Chrome:

  1. Click the lock icon to the left of the address bar.
  2. In Google Chrome, select Site settings.
  3. Find the Pop-ups and redirects section.
  4. Ensure the setting is set to Block.

Keep in mind that the process may look different on other browsers, but similar options should be available. Once your settings are adjusted, you’ll be able to focus on completing invoices and recording payments without distractions.

Feel free to reach out to us if you have any further questions or need assistance. We’re here to help.

(Thought I replied).   I appreciate the answer.  Unfortunately, it doesn't provide an easy way to stop these notices.  (Similar thoughts on the "AI" box that frequently opens in QBO).

I just started experiencing the same issue today.  It wants owner’s name and SSN to send an invoice (note: we have several owners and the FEIN is already in QBO).  I do not want to receive payments through QBO, I simply want to continue emailing invoices.  Please turn this function off in QBO.

This pop-up keeps appearing because QBO is pushing its payment processing feature. To stop it: Go to Settings (gear icon) → Account and Settings → Sales → scroll down to "Payments" and turn off the option that says something like "Accept payments for invoices". If it's already off, toggle it on, save, then toggle it off again and save — sometimes the pop-up gets stuck even when the setting is already disabled. If that doesn't work, try clearing your browser cache or switching to a different browser temporarily. I've seen cases where the pop-up is tied to a cached session state rather than an actual setting.
