Why is sales tax not calculated in the total? Why don't I have a date in front of each product or service on my invoice?

QuickBooks calculates sales tax based on your customer's tax-exempt status, sales or shipping location, and the product or service's tax category. If any of these details are set up incorrectly, the sales tax will not appear in the invoice total.

On the other hand, the date field that appears next to each item on your invoice is an optional feature called the Service Date. To use this feature, you need to enable it in the invoice customization settings within QuickBooks.

Navigate to the + Create > Customers > Invoice. In the invoice screen, click the Gear icon labeled Manage. Next, go to the Customization tab and open the drop-down menu. Then find Service date and turn the toggle on to activate the field.

Once this is enabled, a dedicated date column will appear right in front of each product or service line on your invoices.
