Question

Can I apply PayPal transactions that come in through the feed to an invoice?

We do a lot of booths at events and receive payments for goods through PayPal. I have my PayPal transactions set up to come through the PayPal feed. I have an instance where I have an invoice that I created for a customer where I need to use some of these payments from a booth and apply them to that invoice. Is this possible?

Yes, you can apply PayPal transactions from the PayPal Connector by QuickBooks app to an open invoice using the Find Match feature.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions, then select App transactions.
  2. Locate the transaction you want to match under the For Review tab and click Find Match.
  3. In the Match Transactions window, find the open invoice and check the box next to it.
  4. Select Save to complete the process.

If the PayPal fee causes a difference in amounts, here's how to handle it:

  1. In the Match Transactions window, select the open invoice.
  2. Go to the Resolve Difference section, add a new line and assign it to a PayPal Fees expense account.
  3. Enter the fee amount to bring the difference to $0.00.
  4. Click Save to finalize.
