Question

I can't lodge payroll to the ATO, it states there are no employees selected. I have had no problem lodging before.

Hi cleggtribe6,

You need to check the employee details and make sure the employee is not set to closely-held employee. Here's how you can check it:

  1. Click on the Employees tab.
  2. Click on employee list, and click one of the employee name.
  3. Click on Pay Run Defaults.
  4. Scroll down and look for the tick box for Closely held employee.
  5. Untick the box and click on Save.
  6. Repeat the process if you have other employees.

Once done, go back to the pay event and click on Actions, and click Refresh data. The employee should show on the list.

If the closely held employee box is ticked for an employee, the employee will not appear in the STP events created.

Furthermore, another area to check is if the previous pay event the employee was set to Is final, and if there is a finalisation event created or submitted.

You can check this article to learn more about Managing Closely Held Employees.

Feel free to reply to this thread if you have any other questions about STP.
