Question

Why does every superfund I enter into the BEAM interface say that that superfund's USI does not match to an APRA regulated superfund?

Hi, andrew159. The BEAM validates your superfund against the ATO database. This error can occur due to the following:

  • Incorrect USI entered (missing digit or extra space)
  • Using the superfund ABN instead of the USI
  • The fund is an SMSF
  • The fund is not registered with BEAM

First, verify the fund type through the ATO's Super Fund Lookup. Search for your fund using either the ABN or the name. APRA-regulated funds have a USI.

Then, go back to QuickBooks Online and enter the exact USI from the ATO lookup.

  1. Click Apps on the left menu > Payroll > Employees.
  2. Go to the Payroll Settings tab and select Superannuation under BUSINESS SETTINGS.
  3. Enter the exact USI without extra spaces or missing digits.
  4. Save the changes.

After that, refresh the BEAM database to pull the latest fund data. From the Superannuation section, click Manage Funds Refresh Funds. You can then process a test pay run to ensure BEAM accepts the USI/ABN without errors.

If the error persists, contact BEAM support to review your USI/ABN information.
