Currently, my payroll clearing account is showing a negative amount (eg. -$10,000.00). There are multiple journal entries from 2016 to 2019. How do I zero out these negative balances?

if i press "transaction jnl" button it shows that the jnl was entering the item into inventory but if i run a bal sheet and p&l it is showing nothing in bal sheet but purchase from supplier in cogs - does anyone know why its doing this? QB help desk is also stumped and ran a dummy entry and it did exactly this in my system. is there something in the back end thats not turned on or is it something to do with FIFO not working properly. Note the items havent been subsequently sold. thanx

Hi all, So I've searched the threads for information on this, but they don't seem to cover every step involved with setting a new deduction up, and I would like to ensure I've completed this correctly. The situation is this - the employee has made personal purchases on the company credit card, and we would like to deduct these off his pay. So far I have created a new deduction called "Employee Purchases" under Payroll Settings > Deduction Categories and made this a post-tax deduction so that it doesnt affect the tax calculation. However, I've noticed that when creating the deduction it doesn't make you link the deduction to a particular account - I only found this option later under Payroll Settings > Chart of Accounts, and have noticed that none of the standard deduction categories (e.g. Pre-Tax Deduction, Post-Tax Deduction, Salary Sacrifice Super) are not linked to anything.
