Question

Anyone else having trouble with time entery on Quickbooks online?

When I try to enter time, I get a message that something went wrong, try again later. Been about 30 minutes, doesn't seem to be a way to report a downtime issue.

I lost my services category in weekly timesheet.  When I tried to add it again, it stated something went wrong.  I'm still having problems printing a timesheet.  It scrambles the customers into different time slots. Support told me I had to retype all of the entries since the beginning of July.

Hey there, @schroeder2.

How are you doing today? I hope all is well.

Typically, when we see the error "Something went wrong, try again later", clearing the cache removes it. With that said, have you tried using an incognito/private browser or tried clearing the cache from your browser? If not, I recommend doing that.

Web browsers collect cache to save time when loading repetitive images and data. Over time these files can become outdated and corrupted, causing issues like the one with your error. I'm including the links for all supported browsers that contain the steps to clear the cache below.

Please make sure you restart the browser so the changes can take effect.

That should do the trick. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a good one!

The fix all for errors in Quickbooks is to clear my cache, clear all my history, cookies, etc. Then Quickbooks MAY start working again, but all my other software and functions no longer function and I spend hours solving all my other software issues on my computer, resetting passwords, etc.

In this case, it cleared itself after about 30 minutes, telling me this wasn't an issue on my end, but an issue with Quickbooks itself.

Probably this is the issue in most cases. Going through the "clear my cache" routine just gives Quickbooks time to fix there problems. The sad thing is, I went from Quickbooks Desktop 2014 in 2022,  that did everything I needed, to Quickbooks Online that performs poorly, all because the "outdated" 2014 version was the cause of my computer crashing. Now, with the latest, greatest Quickbooks has to offer, I still have issues with my computer crashing because of Quickbooks.

So, I now spend $120 a month to deal with a poorly written software rather than live with the issues of Quickbooks Desktop 2014 that was already bought & paid for. I sure wish I had done more research here with users of Quickbooks Online.

Thanks for the info schroeder2.  I agree that QB desktop was more stable.  Tried to enter time data this morning and it appears to be working again.  Hope it stays that way.

We do thousands of time entries a month in QB online across 30+ employees. We got so tired of the constant issues that we built time entry (weekly view, single entry view, and timeline view) into our employee portal product and it syncs directly with QB online. You can even save presets for time entries you put in regularly, which is awesome. It's been a huge time saver for our team. I'd encourage you to check it out: https://www.onsharp.com/features/time-entry
