I know a reason why your Trial balance report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) isn't showing the correct numbers, klnassist. Let me discuss it with you.

It's important to note that when generating the Trial balance report in QBO, the data displayed is specific to the current fiscal year only. If you've selected a period that crossed into another fiscal year, the report won't reflect the numbers accurately. Hence, if you want the cross the period into another fiscal year, you can run the General Ledger report as a workaround.

Otherwise, if you generate the report within the fiscal year but the numbers still doesn't reflect correctly. I advise performing some basic browser troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of having issues with your browser. Please be aware that browsers accumulate temporary internet files that can affect your browsing experience. Too many internet files can sometimes change how your QBO company behaves, resulting in errors when performing tasks. See the following keyboard shortcuts for suitable browsers to open a private window:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P
