Question

How can I customize reports to make it more appropriate for my non-profit? For example, how can I use "net assets" instead of "equity" for the balance sheet?

Or how can I replace the word "sales" with "grants and contributions revenue"?

Thanks for bringing this out, ingridoncada. Let me share information about customizing reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and make your experience better.

At this moment, there’s no native way to personalize account names on reports in QBO. Special accounts like Equity and Sales can’t be changed or used for any other purpose.

You can only change things like the accounting method, reporting period, number format, rows, columns, header/footer, customers, distribution accounts, suppliers, and products that appear on the report.

I can see how convenient and beneficial the option is for you when generating statements. Our Product Development team is constantly looking for ways to enhance our offerings to meet your expectations. That being said, I recommend submitting your idea to them so they can carefully review your feedback and get it possibly added to future upgrades.

You can follow the instructions below to submit one within the program:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion(s) in the box.
  3. Select Next after.

If you want to print your reports, download or export them, check out this article for reference: Run reports in QBO. It includes details of other reports' features to help gain more knowledge about the processes and how they work.

I look forward to serving you better in the future. If you have any other concerns with QuickBooks reports, please don't hold back to add comments below. I’m just a few clicks away, ingridoncada.
