how to find transactions throwing off balance sheet bank account
Our USD bank account has only 25-30 transactions for the last fiscal year. Our balance sheet in home currency for that period for that account is out by a significant margin from what the bank register is reporting: the balance sheet shows more funds than are in the account for the end of the period. So at first I conclude that a transaction is missing. Yet there are the same number of transactions in each report. The account has been reconciled. In an Excel I can put each transaction next to the other from each report and see how the home currency amount goes sideways with what appears to be large discrepancies in the exchange rate. But the exchange rates are all within a normal range in QBO. How can I do a deeper dive to find what is throwing off the balance sheet? The transaction types for this account are transfers to our other connected bank account in home currency, transfers to a pre-paid USD charge card which is essentially being treated as a bank account (for which I have confirmed the transfers are all recorded), and wire payments to two suppliers. I have gone through the transactions with those suppliers and they are all connected / matched to a bank item. Thank you.
