Delete account

I appreciate you for posting here in the Community space, @1928460. I can definitely provide you with steps on how to delete an account in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can purge your data if your QuickBooks Online account is less than 90 days old from the signup date. This way, the system deletes all the possible data entered into the company, and you're unable to restore or reverse it. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online Company.
  2. Change the URL to include /purgecompany
    Example: Change https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/homepage to https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany
  3. The next screen will provide a summary of the items to delete. Type YES to delete the data, then select OK.
  4. The next screen will provide a summary of the items to be deleted.
  5. Type the word “YES” once the data gets deleted, then click OK.
  6. Click Wipe Data once your selections are complete.
  7. Once the deletion is complete, you will be redirected to your home page.

However, if your account is 90 days old or older, you'll need to cancel your account or subscription to delete the QBO account. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as an admin user.
  2. Go to Settings ⚙, then Account and Settings.
  3. Select the Billing and subscription tab.
  4. In the QuickBooks section, select Cancel subscription or Cancel your trial.
  5. Select the Continue to cancel.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to complete the process.

For additional information about deleting your QBO account, you can refer to this article: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, please refer to this article to see different information about what will happen to your data after you cancel your subscription: What will happen if I cancel my subscription?

Let me know if you have other questions about QuickBooks. I'm always free to help you whenever you need my assistance. Take care, shaileshbava0-gm!

I want to deactivate my account that is more than 90 days old. I cancelled the subscription a while ago. Now that I’m trying to log on, it keeps promoting me to subscribe before i could sign-in. How should I go about closing this account… or at least signing in and removing the linked bank account?

When you cancel your QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscription, your data will be available in read-only access for 1 year from the date of cancellation, Keisha.

To clarify, could you please confirm if what you see when signing in to QuickBooks matches the screenshot below? Any additional details can help us provide an accurate solution.

To access your account, please ensure that you're using the correct website and credentials when signing in.

If you want to delete your QuickBooks account permanently, you can submit a deletion request to us. Here's how:

  1. Go to accounts.intuit.com.
  2. Navigate to the Data & privacy section.
  3. Select Delete.

  4. Click Make a delete request.
  5. Choose the account you'd want to delete the data from, then click Continue.
  6. Select the products that you want to delete and select Continue.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to submit a delete request.

Afterward, you'll receive an email outlining the steps, which may take a few days up to 45 days to process.

Also, if you're unable to sign in, you can unlink your bank account directly through your bank's website.

I'll keep this thread open if you have additional questions about QuickBooks.
