Question

I want to prepare a report on a project basis. I have headed up various nominals with a code XX. Is there a way to include a particular subset of nominals in a P & L?

Hi there, Stephanie. Yes, you can include a subset of nominals in your Profit and Loss report. To start, I recommend enabling the Account numbers option in your settings.

Please note that account numbers will only be visible if you’re using the Modern view in QuickBooks Online (QBO). If the account numbers don’t appear, I suggest switching to the Modern view to ensure they are displayed correctly.

To turn on the Enable account number option, here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon and go to the Advanced tab.
  2. In the Chart of accounts section, turn on the Enable account numbers feature and tick the box for Show account numbers.
  3. Once done, click Save.

After enabling account numbers, you can proceed to pull up and customize the Profit and Loss report  to include your desired subset of nominals.

Let me know if you have any other concerns related to QuickBooks. We'll be happy to assist.
