Can I create an excel extract with current year reference data compared to next year's budget? I want to be able to extract that for a side by side in excel. How can I?

You can export the current year reference data and next year's budget separately from QuickBooks Online (QBO) and merge them in Excel for side-by-side comparison, @PKECharity.

Unfortunately, QBO does not currently have a built-in capability to directly export a side-by-side comparison report for the budget and reference data into Excel. Even so, merging the two sets of data in Excel can help you achieve the comparison you need.
