Hello there, chrissacshop.

I can help answer whatever questions you may have about QuickBooks. However, I just have to gather some information to ensure the best solution to your concern.

Where do you see the bold print with lines in QuickBooks Online (QBO)? Is this happening with all transactions? I'd appreciate it if you could send me a screenshot of the issue (visual reference). Just be sure to gray out any personal information.

Thank you in advance. I'm looking forward to working with you again, chrissacshop. Have a great weekend.

I would also like to know the answer. it has been an issue for several years.  We have just accepted it as a program error.

Thanks for checking in with us, johndavid3.

Could you further elaborate on the issue you're having with printing transactions? Are you trying to print a check or payroll forms? We would appreciate any information or screenshots you can give us to help us locate the problem.

Update me in the comments section below. I'm hoping to hear from you as soon as I can. Take care always!

I was just told by Quickbooks helpdesk that it was a problem with my computer and.pdf reader.  After many, many attempts at changing different templates and formats, I was able to switch the font and the lines went away.  I am currently using Times New Roman and there are no lines on the bold text.

We recently switched to QBO. Every financial report generated by QuickBooks Online renders bold fonts poorly. The totals are fuzzy on screen and in the generated PDF, and therefore print fuzzy with lines through them. This occurs on all financial reports, not just one report. I've tested multiple browsers and PDF viewers. Are any known engineering issues or feature flags related to report font rendering? I need reports for board meetings and these look terrible and unprofessional.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't support changing report fonts directly. Instead, you can make a minor modification by increasing your printer's resolution settings to fix fuzzy lines that appear when printing.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports and locate the one you want to print.
  2. Click the Export icon at the top right of the report and select Export to PDF.
  3. Once the preview screen opens, select the Printer icon.
  4. In the printer dialog box, choose Properties.
  5. Select Advanced. This may be a button or a tab depending on your Windows version.
  6. Increase the resolution to your preference.
  7. If a Dithering option is available, select Fine.

Please don't hesitate to click the Reply button if you have other questions about the program.

There is no “Advanced” option under Export - Printer Properties. I can access advanced options by using my own system settings, but there is no option there to increase resolution. This problem with the bold font occurs when viewing ON SCREEN and IN PRINT so it is not a print resolution nor a display problem. I do not have this issue with any other program, so the problem is with QB.

Feedback? My apologies, but having reports I can present to our board is critical. I produce a whole suite of reports on a regular basis, so exporting them to excel and having to format them there is not an acceptable solution. These are unreadable in their present state, so this isn’t a “I’d like to have in the future.” I cannot believe Quickbooks finds it acceptable that reports are unusable.
