Question

Each of my clients has different billable rates. How can I set up different billable rates per client/customer?

I want to set client/customer A at $100 per hour and client/customer B at $150 per hour, instead of just a single billable rate per employee.  How can I do that?  So whenever I add time to a specific client/customer, it will auto adjust the rate per hour.

Hello there, jdover.

Let's adjust your time-tracking settings to allow you to bill your clients and projects at varying hourly rates.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, select Account and Settings.
  3. From the left menu, click Advanced.
  4. In the Time tracking section, select the edit (pencil) icon.
  5. Check the box beside Make Single-Time Activity Billable to Customer.
  6. Then, just leave the Show billing rate to users entering time unchecked.
  7. Click Save.

Once the feature is activated, we can proceed to input the hourly rates for your clients and projects. I will provide you with step-by-step guidance on this process.

  1. Click the Plus icon.
  2. Select Single Time Activity or Weekly Timesheet.
  3. Enter the information, then check the box beside Billable (/hr) and enter the Rate in the box.
  4. Once done, Click Save and close.

Thank you for this info.  Would I have to enter the custom billable rate every single time I add time to a specific client?
