How can i customize the home page? (The instructions don't work.)

In QBO, you can add widgets by accessing the dashboard menu. This section lets you personalize multiple widgets according to your preferences.

Here's how:

1. On the left panel, click Dashboard. 
2. Tick Customize layout. Select and drag widgets to reorder them.
3. Select and drag the sides of the widget to resize. Please know that not all widgets are resizable.
4. Click Add or remove widgets to insert widgets.
5. Tap Save.

After setting up your account, you can add users and assign them to their specific roles in your company's account.

If you don't see any widgets or a customize option, it's usually not an incomplete setup, it's the view you're in. The customizable widget dashboard is part of Business view, so in Accountant view you won't see the widgets or the customize control at all. Switch to Business view first, then the options appear.

1. Select Settings (the gear icon) in the upper right.
2. At the bottom of the menu, select Switch to Business view. (If it already says "Switch to Accountant view," you're in Business view.)

Your data isn't affected, and you can switch back anytime.

2. Customize the dashboard and add widgets

1. Go to your Dashboard (Home).
2. Select the customize control. Depending on your version it's labeled Customize your dashboard (a sliders icon), Customize layout, or Add widgets.
3. Select Add or remove widgets and check the widgets you want (for example cash flow, profit and loss, expenses, invoices).
4. Drag widgets to reorder them, and drag a widget's edge to resize it. Not all widgets are resizable.
5. Select Save (or Done).

If you switch to Business view and still see no widgets to choose from

Two things can cause that, and neither means your books are set up wrong:

• Phased rollout. The customizable dashboard reaches accounts at different times, so a given account may not have it yet. If the customize option simply isn't there in Business view, your account may be waiting on the update.
• User role. Which widgets appear depends on each user's access rights, so a limited user sees fewer or no widgets. Signing in as the primary admin (or having your admin adjust your access) shows the full set.

The dashboard has continued to evolve, and the current standard experience pairs widgets with pinned apps and bookmarks on the left sidebar. Pinning the areas you use most and bookmarking specific pages gets your frequent tasks to one click, alongside whatever widgets you set up.
