How can I not use invoice numbers? I do not want to input an invoice number but can't seem to remove this option from each invoice or on the customers monthly statement.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can turn off the custom transaction numbers in your Account and Settings to remove the invoice number. This action will eliminate the Invoice no. field from your invoices and customer statements. As a result, QBO will not assign or print any invoice numbers on your sales forms.

To turn off the custom transaction numbers, here's how:

1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
2. Choose Sales.
3. In Sales form content, select the Pencil icon to edit.
4. Turn off the Custom transaction numbers.
5. Select Save and hit Done.

It's important to note that even though invoice numbers won't be visible or printed, QBO will still sequentially assign numbers internally for reporting and tracking purposes.

If completely disabling invoice numbering is a requirement for your business, there is currently no option to do this in QBO. It would be best to request this feature by providing your feedback directly to our Product Development team:
