How do I stop the same marketing messages from repeatedly popping up in QuickBooks Online?

Here are the services that I see promoted the most often: accounts receivable factoring, checking accounts, time tracking.  I do not need these services and I would rather not have to continually click to minimize these ads.

QuickBooks Online doesn't currently have a setting that permanently stops a marketing message from coming back, so if you're seeing the same one return after you've dismissed it, that's expected behavior right now rather than something broken on your end.

Step 1: Dismiss it each time it shows up

Select the X or No, thanks option on the message. This clears it for that session, though it may reappear on a later login.

Step 2: Ask for a permanent opt-out

Since there's no built-in way to turn a specific message off for good, the way to push for one is to tell the product team exactly which messages keep recurring and how often.

  1. Go to Settings (the gear icon).
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Describe which messages you keep seeing and how often they return.
  4. Select Next to submit.

Naming the specific messages, like ones promoting factoring, checking accounts, or time tracking, gives the product team something concrete to evaluate moving forward.

I get what you mean, @william-matson.

We don't want you to have this experience since the pop-up advertisement may slow you down in running your business. I recommend clicking the X or Nothanks option to stop pop-ups for the time being.

Another option is to turn on your browser's pop-up blocker. This stops pop-up windows from appearing. Here's how:

  1. Click the lock icon to the left of the address bar.
  2. Select Site settings (Google Chrome) or Permission for this site (Mozilla browser).
  3. Hover over the Pop-ups and redirects section, and select Block from the drop-down menu.

For Safari browser:

  1. Open your Safari browser.
  2. Click Safari, then Preferences
  3. Select Websites at the top
  4. Click Pop-up Windows on the left sidebar
  5. Then select Block in the pop-up menu for the website.

Depending on the browser you're using, you can also search online for more instructions on how to stop block pop-ups.

I also encourage you to send your feedback to our Product Development team. They can review your request and possibly add the capability to remove it in future updates.

I've also included this link to help you effectively manage your account for future reference: Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos.

Please post again if there is anything else I can do to assist you. I'll be right here to provide you with answers.

I do wish the answer was that easy, Jovychris!  QBO plants these promotional announcements in the interface page, not in conventional pop-ups, and clicking "Hide" minimizes them only temporarily... the next time you log in they are presented to you again.

If QBO was not subscription-based, it would make sense to continually upsell.  But I assume that Intuit is not  losing money on those of us who don't want extra services.  I'm sure I that there must be a way to opt out of these daily ads.

Thanks for following up with the Community, william-matson.

I can certainly understand how an ability to turn off promotional advertisements permanently could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear (⚙️) icon, then go to Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion(s) in the Have feedback? window.
  3. If necessary, attach a file with your Camera (📸) icon.
  4. Select Next.

Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

As a workaround, you can use the X or No, thanks options mentioned in Jovychris_A's post to temporarily hide promotional advertisements.

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have an awesome day!
