Setting up receipt forwarding correctly
The email address you forward receipts from has to be the exact one you use to sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
- Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed in a web browser.
- Select the profile icon, then Receipt forwarding.
- Follow the onscreen steps. You may need to verify the address by text message.
- Check the Your receipts must be sent from field, and use that exact address when emailing receipts.
- Select Done.
If your sign-in email has special characters, that can cause verification to fail. In that case, change the email address you use to sign in first, then set up receipt forwarding again.
If the address still won't verify
Try signing in through a private or incognito browser window and setting up receipt forwarding from there. If that works, go back to your regular browser, clear its cache and cookies, and try again, or try a different supported browser.
Sending your receipts
Once forwarding is set up, email your receipt images (JPEG, PNG, or PDF) to receipts@quickbooks.com from your verified address. If you've connected your bank or card accounts, QuickBooks tries to match the forwarded receipt to a transaction automatically. If it can't find a match, it creates a new transaction for you to review and categorize under Transactions.
