Question

Why does the Project detail costs report total not match the project cost?

Project Detail Costs report shows total of transaction but lists that total as many times as the transaction was divided. If we purchased 10 items for this project and separated the items based on COGS, Equipment, Sales Tax Paid and so forth, the total for the entire amount paid shows as many times as the number of line items, causing our expenses to be off by thousands of dollars.

There are a few reasons why the Project Detail cost report doesn't match the project cost, Mary.

One reason is how transactions are recorded and allocated. Could you share a bit more about how you're recording your transactions and items for these projects?

To make sure the totals add up correctly and aren't being duplicated, review the transaction entry and double-check that the amounts are proportionally allocated to respective categories.

Also, know that there are times browser-related issues interfere with project management systems and cause reporting modules to generate incorrect totals.

You can clear your browser's cache to remove any stored data that may be causing this issue.

If this doesn't help, try accessing the report in a different browser to determine if it's a browser-specific problem.
