This is a display problem, not a books problem. The number on the Home screen and what loads on the Bill Pay screen come from two different pulls of your data, and one of them can fall out of sync. Outdated data cached on your device is the most common cause.
Refresh the app first
- Close the QuickBooks app completely and reopen it.
- Switch your device between Wi-Fi and mobile data to rule out a connection hiccup.
- Restart your device.
Clear the app's stored data
If the mismatch is still there, the next step is to clear out whatever the app has cached locally, since that's most likely showing you a stale count. On Android, you can do this without reinstalling:
- Open your device Settings.
- Select Apps (the exact name varies by device).
- Choose the QuickBooks app, then select Storage.
- Select Clear data.
On iOS, there isn't an equivalent "clear cache" setting for individual apps, so the reliable way to clear stored app data is to uninstall and reinstall the app.
Still showing the wrong count?
If the number is still off after that, update both the app (from the App Store or Google Play Store) and your device's operating system. An outdated version of either can also cause data to display incorrectly.
