It's vital that all your transactions be entered properly so your books can have the correct balance. QuickBooks Online is a great tool that can help you keep track of invoices, credits, and payments so you can see your customer's balance. I can provide some information about invoice payments.
In order to modify an invoice payment, navigate to the Sales tab, then Customers. Click on the name of the customer that has the payment in question to open up their profile, then pick out the payment from the list of transactions. Click on the payment itself, then Edit in order to modify the payment.
