QuickBooks will automatically calculate your sales tax as long as the criteria of calculation are met, Info2190.

Your customer's sales tax-exempt status, where you sell or where you ship, and your service or product's sales tax category are the bases of the calculation. To have a detailed information on how sales tax is calculated, refer to this article: Learn how QuickBooks automatically calculates sales tax.

To verify the calculation, follow these steps:

    1. Open the  Invoice (sample transaction only).
    2. Check the address in the Shipping From box to ensure it is correct, and confirm that the Customer's status is not tax-exempt.

    3. If everything is correct, click on See the Math to view the calculation.

If you cannot see the calculation you want, you can manually add your tax rate by navigating to the Taxes tab. Then, select Sales Tax Settings, choose the Add Agency dropdown to select Add Custom Rate. Save this information and apply it to your transaction.

To review a summary of the taxable and non-taxable sales tax you have collected and what you owe to tax agencies, go to the Review Sales Tax Reports and run the Sales Tax Liability Report.
