Sales tax is an essential part of any small business. QuickBooks Online is here to help you with your taxes by allowing you to track and record your sales tax payments in your account. I know how handy it would be to have the ability to remove certain tax agencies if you're no longer using them.
At this time, you're unable to remove the tax agency from the Sales Tax center entirely. You're able to make each associated tax code inactive so it no longer appears in the drop-down menu when you select tax.
Follow these steps to make your tax codes inactive:
1. Click Taxes on the left navigation menu.
2. Select Sales Tax at the top of the page.
3. Click Manage Sales Tax.
4. Next to the tax codes for the CRA and Revenu Quebec, click Make inactive.
5. Click Done.
It's important that this information remains in the account as 'inactive' rather than a permanent delete, as they may have historical transactions linked to them.
I hope this helps you get back on track. If you have any other questions, please get in touch with our tech support team.
Have a great week.
