To adjust an HST return in QuickBooks Online that has already been filed to match the submission made to the CRA, @payroll-sussmans, you’ll need to unfile the two individual months' HST returns in QuickBooks and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.

This will align the sales tax amount in the system and ensure the proper payment is made for the next CRA reporting. Follow these steps to unfile the sales tax:

  1. From the left menu, open Taxes and then Sales tax.
  2. Select the Filings tab.
  3. Click on the ▼ dropdown menu to the right of the item to be unfiled and select Undo filing.
  4. Once done, select Prepare return.
  5. Review the information and hit Adjust for Tax Collected, as you see necessary.
  6. Hit Save and then Mark as filed.
