How do I correctly record a GST refund so that it is correctly reflected in the GST Payable account for a previously filed Sales Tax in QuickBooks Online?

Welcome to the Community. QuickBooks Online makes it easy to record a GST refund and I'll be happy to show you how. 

 

If the reason to  correct the GST refund is due to a clerical error, you'll need to unfile your taxes and then file again using the correct amounts. To do this, please contact our support team using this link here. Otherwise, here's how to record a GST refund:

 

1. Open your sales tax center by clicking on the Taxes tab.

2. In the Filed section and locate the return you've received a refund for

 

3. Click the drop-down arrow to the far right and select Record refund 

4. Enter the AmountDate, and Bank account then click Record refund to save.
