Question

In the Sales Tax Overview, I only see the Jan 1- December 31, 2026 under "To File". I haven't filed the 2025, how can I file it when it is missing?

Hi there, Romwestconstructions.

QuickBooks Online automatically selects the dates for your latest sales tax period based on the CRA's payment schedule. To reflect last year’s sales tax period, let's adjust the dates from 2026 to 2025 by selecting Prepare return.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Sales Tax Overview and click Prepare return for the current period.
  2. Set the Start, End, and Filings date to year 2025.
  3. Review the details and amounts to ensure accuracy.
  4. Select Mark as filed to complete and finalize the return.

Refer to the screenshot below for your visual reference:

For more detailed instructions about filing GST/HST return with the CRA, you can refer to this article: File sales tax in QuickBooks Online.
