New Michigan Website Unemployment

I have been trying all ways but cannot get MiUi to accept my file format from QB desktop. I go through payroll center, file forms, E-File State SUI and then do the interview but none of it works. Michigan Unemployment website says “file invalid. Fatal error” when I upload the txt file that QB creates. Anyone know how to fix it?

Hi there, @Accountant1001. Since Michigan released its latest payroll update, you'll also need to make sure your QuickBooks Desktop payroll tax table is updated so the file matches the new format required by the state.

This is the most common reason why the MiUi rejects the TXT file created through the Payroll Center. You can also check your unemployment account number, as Michigan requires it to be entered in this 7-digit format.

Hi @RazzieE I have updated to the newest payroll update and QB software but the txt file is not working when we upload to MiUi because MIWAM is no longer supported. But the txt file is being flagged as invalid. It has four options: Delimited (CSV Comma Delimited), ICESA (NASWA standard file format), EFW2 (formerly MMREF-SSA), and XML (Standard XML Format). Those are the four options MiUi gives for file format specifications. I tried to upload the .txt file that quickbooks exported but it did not validate through MiUI as it said fatal error and invalid file format.
