I'd also like to ask if you're using the QBO mobile app. If so, I want to share that we received a few similar reports about this issue a few days ago.
However, our engineers were able to quickly find a solution and have recently released an update to restore the missing categories.
To apply this fix, I would recommend updating the app on your device. Alternatively, you can also temporarily remove and then reinstall the app.
Here's what you need to do:
Tap and hold the QBO mobile app on your phone.
Drag the app to the Uninstall section.
Click Yes to confirm.
After uninstalling, you can download the app again using this link: iOS.
