I have checked the data.csv file and it looks fine. I exported it from my Barclays online banking. There are over 900 records.

Hi there, Fran.

To help me assist you better, could you please share the specific error message you’re encountering?

In the meantime, import errors are usually caused by the file's structure. QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) requires a specific 3-column or 4-column layout. Please ensure your Barclays export matches one of these formats:

  • 3-Column Format: Date (DD/MM/YYYY), Description, and Amount (use a minus sign for expenses and a plus sign for income).
  • 4-Column Format: Date (DD/MM/YYYY), Description, Credit, and Debit.

Additionally, bank exports often include summary rows at the top (such as your account number or balance). Please remove these header rows so that your column titles (Date, Description, etc.) are in the very first row of the spreadsheet.

For more detailed guidance, these resources are very helpful:

While these articles focus on QuickBooks Online, the formatting rules also apply to QBSE.

Feel free to reply if you have any further questions. I'm happy to help you get those 900 records uploaded.
