Relatively new to Quickbooks, I can add invoices for my clients but how do I add an invoice that I need to pay?

Your suppliers invoice to you his customer, is your bill

if you will not pay the bill until later, use enter bills, and later use pay bills

otherwise, just enter the payment

You would add an invoice you need to pay as a bill. You can do this by going to the '+' icon, and selecting Bill.
