Question

When emailing receipts to QuickBooks has anyone else recently started getting the email appearing as a transaction for review as well as the receipt as a transaction?

Hello Denise.walter, thanks for reaching out to the Community about the change in behaviour of QuickBooks regarding emailing receipts. 

We're not aware of a current issue therefore we have a few steps for you to try if possible. Could you open a private browsing window and then go to QuickBooks and let us know if it does the same thing? Could you also try on a different device (we appreciate that is not always possible). If you do then get the same transaction duplication, can you advise when this started happening, is that on multiple different suppliers. 

We're assuming (apologies if we're wrong) that you have set up receipt forwarding. If you send the receipt through the app manually does the same thing happen?

 If you are able to send the receipts from the app manually if you can do that and still let us know and we'll raise this with our senior technicians team either way.

Thanks for the prompt reply.  It is happening from both of the verified receipt forwarding email addresses and is happening on multiple devices, but my client does not use the app to link transactions.  It is not a duplicate of the transaction, it is that the invoice attachment from the email is coming through as one transaction for review and the email with just the signature of the sender on it is coming through as a separate transaction for review.

Thank you for updating and providing some detailed information regarding the email receipt, Denise. 

 

When you email your receipt to QuickBooks Online (QBO), the system often pulls information to generate a transaction, which you can now examine in your review tab. However, because you said that the sender's signature creates a separate transaction, we recommend contacting our support. This allows them to investigate why this is happening on your end. 

 

Here's how to contact our support:

  1. In your QBO account, select Help (?). 
  2. Choose the Search tab.
  3. At the bottom of your screen, click Contact Us.  
  4. Type your concern. Then click Continue. 
  5. You may choose Callback, Appointment, or Chat as your way to connect with us. 
  6. Kindly fill out the provided field such as your First name, Last name, Email address, and Phone number. 
  7. Depending on what you choose as your way to connect with us, click Callback, Schedule an appointment, or Chat.

After you receive the customer's payment, you can now record invoice payments. Doing so allows your accounts to stay balanced.
