I'm here to walk you through on how to get rid of the Take Action prompt, sales171.

The message appears if there are any open VAT return that still needs to be filed or marked as filed. After successfully filing your VAT you can mark the return as filed in QuickBooks.

On the other hand, if you filed it outside, you can mark it as filed and close the period. I'll show you how:

  1. From the Taxes menu, select VAT.
  2. Click on Prepare return to view the open return.
  3. Select the Submit to HMRC drop-down to Mark as filed.
  4. Hit on Continue on the pop-up.

If you filed and submitted in QuickBooks and the return is still open, you can reach out to our support and they'll walk you through it. Just click this article ans scroll-down to the Speak to us section: Making Tax Digital (MTD) - everything you need to know.
